RangeNodes

Terms of Service

Draft — pending review by counsel. Not legal advice; final terms will be published before launch. Version 2026-07-01-v1.0-CK.

1. Acceptance & eligibility (18+)

By confirming you are 18 or older and using RangeNodes (rangenodes.com) (the "Service"), operated by Casting Karma LLC ("we," "us"), you agree to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Service is intended only for adults 18+ and only for uses lawful in your jurisdiction. You are responsible for complying with all laws applicable to you, including all federal, state, and local laws governing firearms, ammunition, and the reloading of ammunition.

2. What RangeNodes is — and is not

RangeNodes is an informational database of user-reported, community-contributed handloading data. Each record reflects what an individual contributor reports having measured. It is a DATA RECORD — not a safety authority, not a manufacturer, not a laboratory, and not professional, legal, or safety advice.

We do not manufacture, sell, ship, or distribute firearms, ammunition, powder, primers, projectiles, brass, or any physical component. We do not test, verify, certify, endorse, or guarantee any load, charge, component, or result shown on the Service.

Information on the Service is not a substitute for current, published load data from the manufacturers of the specific powder, primer, projectile, and firearm you use. Always consult and follow current manufacturer data and instructions.

3. Data is user-reported and unverified

All load data is submitted by users (or recovered from community sources) and is unverified. It may contain errors, omissions, typos, or dangerous values and may not be safe or appropriate for your firearm, components, or conditions. Any derived figures shown — including any “node,” “recommended,” or barrel-normalized values, and any flags — are informational estimates from community data, not recommendations to use a particular charge.

Reloading is inherently dangerous. Incorrect or excessive powder charges, components, or assembly can cause serious injury, death, and property damage. You must independently verify any data against current manufacturer sources, start at or below the published starting load, reduce by a safe margin, and work up carefully while watching for pressure signs.

4. Assumption of risk & release

You acknowledge that reloading ammunition and discharging firearms are inherently hazardous. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you knowingly and voluntarily ASSUME ALL RISK arising from your use of the Service and from any reloading or shooting activity you undertake, whether or not informed by information on the Service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you RELEASE, WAIVE, and DISCHARGE Casting Karma LLC and its owners, members, employees, contractors, and contributors (the "Released Parties") from any and all claims, demands, damages, or liability of any kind arising out of or related to your use of the Service or any information obtained through it.

5. No warranties (provided “AS IS”)

The Service and all content are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that any data is accurate, complete, reliable, current, or error-free.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Released Parties will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any personal injury, death, or property damage, arising out of or related to the Service or any information obtained through it, even if advised of the possibility.

The Released Parties' total aggregate liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; there, liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted.

7. Your submissions & attestation

If you submit load data or other content, you attest that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge, that you personally observed it, and that you observed no pressure signs. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute your submitted data as part of the Service, with attribution as applicable. You are solely responsible for your submissions.

8. Prohibited content

You must not submit, and we will remove, content that: instructs or facilitates illegal firearm modification or manufacture — including automatic/select-fire conversion, auto sears, “switches,” or forced-reset-trigger conversions, suppressors/silencers, short-barreled rifles or shotguns, removing or altering serial numbers, unregistered NFA items, or destructive devices; describes prohibited or regulated ammunition — such as armor-piercing handgun ammunition, or tracer/incendiary/explosive/poison projectiles, or other ammunition unlawful to manufacture without a license; facilitates unlawful transfer (e.g., straw purchases or sales to prohibited persons) or any other violation of law; contains controlled or military technical data (ITAR/EAR) beyond published civilian reloading data; or is spam, doxxing, harassment, or off-topic.

All content remains user-reported and unverified; nothing is endorsed as safe.

9. Moderation, reporting & takedown

We moderate in good faith. We use structural limits (structured data fields, not a discussion forum), automated flagging (including scans of free-text notes and over-max/outlier detection), community reporting (“report bad data”/“report unsafe”), account-gating with accountability, and a human review queue with the ability to remove content and suspend or ban accounts. We may remove content or suspend/terminate accounts at our discretion, and we maintain records of moderation actions.

We are an interactive computer service that hosts third-party content; consistent with 47 U.S.C. § 230, we are not the publisher or speaker of user-submitted content, and our moderation is undertaken in good faith.

10. Data recovery, attribution & takedown/opt-out (seed data)

A portion of the Service's seed data was recovered from the Reloaders' Nest community handloading database via publicly archived snapshots on the Internet Archive (Wayback Machine), re-normalized into our own format, with each record's original source reference preserved. Factual data points (such as charge weights and measured velocities) are not subject to copyright. RangeNodes is not affiliated with, and not endorsed by, Reloaders' Nest or the Internet Archive.

If you contributed data to a source we recovered, or hold rights in it, and want it credited differently or removed, contact removals@rangenodes.com; we will acknowledge within 3 business days and remove or respond within 10 business days of a valid request (a contributor's own records are removed on request, no questions asked). We also honor copyright/DMCA notices under Section 12.

11. Intellectual property

Factual data points are not subject to copyright. The Service's compilation, organization, software, branding, and original text are owned by us and protected by law. We attribute community/third-party factual sources as applicable. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive right to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial reloading reference; you may not scrape, bulk-export, or re-host the database to build a competing dataset.

12. Copyright / DMCA

If you believe content infringes your copyright, send a notice with the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) to removals@rangenodes.com (our designated agent). We remove or disable infringing material in appropriate cases and terminate repeat infringers.

13. Subscriptions (RangeNodes Pro)

Core search and contribution are free. RangeNodes Pro is an optional paid subscription (currently $7.99/month, with a 7-day free trial). Subscriptions are informational-access subscriptions only; we never sell or charge for any physical component. Pro renews automatically until cancelled; you may cancel anytime and access continues through the paid period. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable. By starting a subscription you re-affirm these Terms. Pricing and features may change on prospective notice.

14. Acceptable use (technical)

Do not attempt to break, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the Service, circumvent access controls or the age gate, or use automated means to bulk-extract the database.

15. Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you will indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your submissions, or your violation of these Terms or any law.

16. Privacy & age

We require users to be 18 or older and do not knowingly collect data from minors; we do not ask for your date of birth. Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy at rangenodes.com/privacy.

17. Changes & termination

We may modify these Terms; material changes are indicated by an updated version, and continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. We record the accepted Terms version and your 18+ acceptance. We may suspend or terminate access at any time, including for violation of these Terms.

18. Governing law; dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will be resolved by final, binding, individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, seated in Texas, and you and we waive any right to participate in a class, collective, or representative action.

You may opt out of this arbitration and class-waiver provision by emailing support@castingkarmallc.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court and may seek injunctive relief to protect intellectual property. Any claim must be brought within one (1) year after it accrues, to the extent permitted by law. This Section does not waive any right that cannot be waived by law.

19. Miscellaneous

These Terms are the entire agreement on this subject. If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect and the unenforceable provision is limited to the minimum extent necessary. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger or sale of assets. No waiver is implied by non-enforcement.
